A high-end modular home builder based in southern New Jersey, Avalon Development Group was in need of a simple marketing website that would let them showcase some of their most beautiful recent work to potential leads. This was a site to be produced in cooperation with Robert Coyne design and was to feature a custom image gallery presenting a lot of visual information in a very limited space.
From some of the initial requirements of the project, we chose Wordpress as the platform for this project. The content would likely be updated by the client and there wasn't really much need for much of a "user account" system to allow for lots of folks to manage the various pieces of content on the site.
One of the major features of the site is a custom jQuery gallery built with the Galleriffic gallery plugin. The client wanted a series of thumbnail photos in the left column with the main content area being taken up by the full size rendering of the image, which just happens to be exactly what the Galleriffic plugin does. The exact requirements were a bit ill-defined and our Wordpress plugin skill set was not as extensive as it is today. Rather than coding a Galleriffic WP plugin, we decided to build it more as we would a static HTML site and include the pertinent JS code on the appropriate pages.
The result was quite a success and we successfully delivered the site in November of 2010.
