Almond Tree Marketing was an advertising start-up based in Northern New Jersey. Their leadership had deep experience in the Audio/Visual dealer and supplier space, so they were putting that to work by providing marketing direction to small and medium sized A/V dealers in the area. Their original site was well-designed, but was built from static HTML and was not easily updatable without technical help..
This was the first project of several for Almond Tree as a supplier of not only marketing services, but web design and development for their clients. The first revision of the site was built in Wordpress, and was essentially just porting their old HTML site to something they could update. This was our first custom Wordpress theme and was a lot of fun to build.
As the business grew and the design partnership with Robert Coyne design matured, we decided to give Almond Tree something that would grow with the company and let them use the site not only as a marketing lever, but allow them to have areas of the site that were special access to designated clients. A perfect job for Drupal, in other words.
We began by building a custom Drupal theme from Bob's beautiful design utilizing the Nice Menus module and building a couple of simple Views to allow them to have a recent blogs section and so forth.
Soon after came an initiative to create a custom landing page in order to drive traffic toward a simple Webform that would collect leads for this campaign. This involved some light template.php hacking and learning our way around the Webform module - a good learning experience as one of our first custom Drupal projects.
It being a project for an advertising agency, of course there was some work on the backend to improve SEO with the Nodewords module, the Page Title module, the SEO Checklist module, XML Sitemap, and anything and everything else on the SEO Checklist to give fine grained SEO abilities to the site.
